Best Western Orlando Gateway Hotel

Love it but please refresh the rooms properly

Pros: We've been coming to BW Universal Gateway for the past 25 years. The location is fantastic for the parks and outlets and a good base from travelling to other areas of Orlando, but the main reason we keep coming back is because of the staff. They are always so helpful and friendly, it makes a huge difference to out stay.

Cons: Since we last stayed, the hotel has been given a makeover, however, there was little investment made in the rooms. In our bathroom there is a large crack in the sink, sloppy paint job with paint on floor, trims etc. the grout on the corner wall at the shower head is cracked from top to bottom, which will be allowing water to run inside the walls. The bath is badly marked from decades of use. The main bedroom area was better, but it was disappointing to see fire damage to the unit which houses the TV and fridge. Someone tried to do a repair, very badly. Neither USB socket on the bedside lamp are working. Year on year the premises gets more run down, full bathroom refurbishment, plumbing, units, bath etc. Such a prime location and decent facilities should bring in a great deal more guests, but the run down rooms are a problem. Last thing, I use the gym, a lot, and equipment has been removed since I was last here. The existing machine has not been maintained over the many years I've been visiting, with the cable strands broken and sticking out. Missing dumbbells from rack and generally needs to have this equipment cleared out and replaced with new, more modern, equipment. But we still feel we're at home when we come here, please fix things up for our next trip.

Perfect for universal

Pros: We only booked a 1 night stay for our arrival day before checking into our universal hotel the next day but we will be booking this hotel in the future instead! The location is perfect for universal, the staff were really friendly and helpful, and the room was great. The room was clean, spacious and the towel art was fab!

Relaxing & enjoyable.

Pros: The staff were lovely, the location was great & it was clean & it had free parking. Room’s were comfortable but they could do with a little modernisation.

Pros: The room and beds were very comfortable and the check-in/check-out was very easy.

Cons: The wifi went out during the night.

Pros: The staff could not have been any more friendly and helpful. Good facilities. I stayed in a suite which was comfortable and a good size.

Cons: Some loose and old fittings in there bedroom but didn't impact the comfort of the stay. There was a little bit of noise from other rooms which made it through. Shower played up a little on the second day but was warn enough to be comfortable.

Pros: The location is very close to Universal Studio Orlando which is aorund 8 mins driving and the price is very competitve. The room is clean.

Cons: It doesn't offer disposable toiletries but it isn't a big deal, totally acceptable.

Pros: Receptionist who helped me check in was very friendly and made checking in quick and easy after a long flight

Pros: The manager Luciana and the customer service officer Ivo both made my stay memorable.

Cons: Nothing.

Excellent place, a home away from home. But for the breakfast I would have rated it 99.

Pros: Housekeeping excellent. Environment excellent. Friendly staff

Cons: Breakfast is poor and lacks variety. For example only cornflakes . No porridge like oatmeal. Only scrambled egg, too dry same thing every morning. No alternative like boiled egg or poached egg to choose from. No vegetable like cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce No variety of tea to choose from . For a 7day stay same thing everyday was damn too boring.
